Disputes involving trusts and estates arise for a number of different reasons and those reasons just as often involve interpersonal relationships as they do any particular asset, decision, or financial issue. Attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and other professionals are often in a position to help clients avoid disputes or help them obtain a favorable result when a dispute cannot be avoided. Guiding clients through these difficult situations requires not only subject-matter expertise, but also a clear understanding of the complex issues that are often at the heart of trust and estate disputes.

This presentation will provide tips and strategies from an experienced trust and estate litigator regarding how to help clients avoid litigation and reduce litigation risk. It will cover common issues leading to disputes, working with clients as disputes arise, judicial standards in the trust and estate context, and tips for handling litigation and resolving disputes.
