Guardianship and conservatorship are at one end of a continuum of social and legal measures that can be taken to help, but if a less restrictive alternative can provide adequate protection for the person, alternatives must be utilized to avoid guardianship and conservatorship. In this session we will explore the less restrictive alternatives to guardianship or conservatorship, the limitations and guardianship and conservatorship, and the role that family and professional fiduciaries play in ensuring the least restrictive options.\n \nLearning Objectives\nAttendees will:   \n Understand guardianship and conservatorship from statutory, practical, and ethical perspectives Understand limitations of guardianship and conservatorship and when it will and will not be helpful in addressing the client's needs.
