MORE DETAILS

Family business is a powerful economic engine driving the United States economy accounting for 64 percent of U.S. gross domestic product, generating 62 percent of the country's employment, and accounting for 78 percent of all new job creation.  Understanding the nuances that drive these enterprises can assist not only family business owners but the advisors who work with them.

Eric Gustafson cut his teeth in family business by restructuring and growing his own families' business with eventual sale to a public company in 1999.  His "real world" lessons learned, garnered through work with closely held and family enterprises over the last two decades, comprise the bulk of his presentation.

By the end of the session, attendees will:

  • Learn about the critical "3 Systems model" and why it is important to make sure the business runs smoothly and family harmony is preserved
  • Understand the two major pitfalls that rip up most family businesses.
  • Leave with ten practical take-away “musts” that serve as action items to help improve a family business right now.
