Conservation easements are an effective, and increasingly-used tool for preserving treasured land, achieving client goals without complicated long-term trusts, and achieving income and estate tax savings. This panel will discuss how to identify a client who may be interested in granting a conservation easement, tips for negotiating the transaction, the process for valuing the easement for income and estate tax deduction purposes, and how easements are defended in perpetuity.
